Ommi Pipit-Suksun's performances with Ballet San Jose have included the roles of Mercedes and Queen of the Dryads in Wes Chapman's Don Quixote, the Dark Angel in Balanchine's Serenade, and the title role in Rolan Petit's Carmen, as well as performing in Stanton Welch's Clear; Sir Frederick Ashton's Méditation from Thaïs, Jorma Elo's Glow-Stop and Jessica Lang's Eighty One, Igal Perry's Infinity, Paul Taylor's Piazzola Caldera, and Vicente Nebrada's Nuestros Valses. In 2004 she was recruited by San Francisco Ballet as one of its youngest Soloists directly from the Royal Ballet School. While at San Francisco Ballet, she performed many lead roles including Snow Queen, Sugar Plum Fairy and Arabian in Tomasson's The Nutcracker; Lilac Fairy, Fairy of Tenderness and Bluebird Pas de Deux in Tomasson's Sleeping Beauty; and the Pas de Trois, Swan Maiden, Spanish Princess and Russian Princess in Tomasson's Swan Lake. Her repertoire also includes Balanchine's Divertimento No.15, The Four Temperaments and Serenade; David Bintley's The Dance House; Christopher Wheeldon's Rush; Tomasson's 7 for Eight and Fifth Season; Alexei Ratmansky's Russian Season; Jerome Robbins' In the Night and Glass Pieces: Yuri Possokhov's Firebird; Stanton Welch's Falling and Antony Tudor's Jardin aux Lilas.
Born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand, Ms. Pipit-Suksun started training in her homeland at the Varaporn-Kanchana Ballet School. At age 15, she was offered a scholarship to study at the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London, England. She then proceeded to become the youngest person to win a gold medal at the 2001 Adeline Genée International Competition. Miss Pipit-Suksun was also chosen to represent the Royal Ballet School and the United Kingdom at internationals galas throughout Europe.
Currently, Ms. Pipit-Suksun is the only Thai professional ballerina in the United States. She became an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 7 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
She joined Silicon Valley Ballet (then known as Ballet San Jose) in 2012 and was promoted to a Principal dancer in 2013. In addition to her performance career, she is also an instructor and a guest artist at Bangkok City Ballet in Thailand.
